At the end of November the Beach Watch water quality monitoring program was launched in time for summer (even though it is feeling like summer is taking a little while to get started!).
Our interactive map shows long-term, weekly and daily information about the water quality at Hobart’s beaches and bays. The daily updates for each swimming site and the collaborative weekly water sampling monitoring program between councils and state government are coordinated by DEP.
Health advice recommends avoiding swimming in the Derwent Estuary for two days after heavy rain (>10 mm of rain over a 24 hour period).
Check the water quality at your favourite beach.
Beach Watch is a collaboration between the Derwent Estuary Program, City of Clarence, City of Hobart, Glenorchy City Council, Kingborough Council, Brighton Council, Derwent Valley Council, EPA Tasmania and the Tasmanian Department of Health.
