Our own DEP ecologist Ellie Green has been collaborating with three others on a fascinating arts and science project in service of our Little Penguins. We are pleased to invite you to a discussion about the project on Thursday 23 April 2026.

The arts- and science-based initiative began in response to the degradation of habitat of the Little Penguins and is an innovative approach to enhancing nesting habitats, engaging the community, creating local environmental connection to Little Penguins in the Derwent Estuary, and promoting the benefits of art in science-based projects.

The project group comprises four individuals with various and complementary skills involved in this unique collaboration – Katherine Johnson is a writer, Peter Whyte a photographer, our Ellie Green, and Jane Bamford who is a ceramic artist. The project is supported by the City of Hobart.
